In the 42-kilometer Jerusalem Ring Path cycling route that runs around the capital city, the Kerem Tunnel was inaugurated.

The tunnel links Nahal Refaim with Emek Motza. The tunnel's southern entry point can be found within Refaim Park below Ein Laban. While the northern entrance is in Nahal Ein Kerem about half a km from the Kerem junction.

The 2.1-kilometers-long tunnel project was inaugurated at a formal ceremony held on Thursday that was attended by Jerusalem and Heritage Minister Ze'ev Elkin Mayor Moshe Lion, Gihon water company chairman Avi Baleshnikov as well as hundreds of cyclists.

Jerusalem was once a major tourist attraction because of its rich past. Elkin said that, the present, in addition to its historical treasures, the tunnel project also includes modern tourism.
